ABOUT

Grant Hyun is a writer and director based in Los Angeles. His films - both narrative and documentary - unearth overlooked histories and suppressed narratives, exploring identity, power, and memory through deeply personal yet socially resonant stories.

His latest project, Jeju Bonpuri: Unraveling the Roots of Sasam, is a feature-length documentary on shamanism, intergenerational trauma, and the legacy of the Jeju 4.3 Massacre. The film is officially endorsed by the Jeju 4.3 Peace Foundation and aims to reshape public understanding of this history.

Grant holds an MFA from NYU Tisch and is an advisory member of the Korean National Association Memorial Foundation (KNAMF), where he works on initiatives connecting Korean American descendants with their heritage.
